Advisory Boards and Commissions Appearance Commission The Appearance Commission was established in 1973 in order to encourage and promote acceptability, attractiveness, innovation, cohesiveness and compatibility of new buildings, developments, exterior remodeling and additions, signs and landscaping. The Commission seeks to maintain and improve the established standards of property values throughout the Village. The Commission is composed of professionals in the fields of architecture, graphics, landscape design, urban planning and building material trades. Public hearings are held and Certificates of Appropriateness are granted prior to the issuance of building and sign permits.
