Legal Notice – Pioneer Press for January 13 & 20, 2005
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS CONSOLIDATED PLAN
FOR
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS
JANUARY 18 AND FEBRUARY 7, 2005
In compliance with U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regulations, the Village of Skokie is presently preparing a Consolidated Plan for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and any other federal community planning and development programs for which the Village may become eligible to apply. In developing this Plan, the Village is encouraging citizen participation and emphasizing the involvement of low and very low-income residents. The Village is also seeking to promote the participation of all of its residents, including minorities and non-English speaking persons, as well as persons with mobility, visual, or hearing impairments. Citizens, organizations, agencies, and other interested parties will have the opportunity to provide their input to the Consolidated Plan.
To that end, two public hearings have been scheduled for Tuesday, January 18 and Monday, February 7, 2005. The hearings will be conducted in the Village Hall Council Chambers immediately following the regular municipal government business which begins at 8:00 p.m. These hearings are being combined with CDBG public hearings to solicit funding proposals and select projects for the 2005-06 budget year. A draft of the Consolidated Plan will be available to the public on January 14, 2005 in the Planning Division at Village Hall and in the Skokie Public Library Reference Department. The Village of Skokie will respond to all written comments received from the public within 15 days, where practicable.
Another public hearing will be held on Monday, March 7, 2005 to receive specific public comment on the Draft Consolidated Plan. Approval by the Village Board of Trustees will be requested at that hearing. For further information please contact Mr. Thomas L. Thompson, Economic Development Coordinator, in writing at the Village of Skokie, 5127 Oakton St., Skokie, IL 60077. Comments are also welcome by telephone at (847) 933-8446, by FAX at (847) 673-0525, or by E-mailing tom.thompson@skokie.org.
