The Community Development Department includes the Building and Zoning, Planning, Economic Development, and Property Standards Divisions and provides "one-stop-shopping" for the Village's development needs. Staff members work to assure buildings are safe by reviewing plans, preparing permits for new construction and renovations, and enforcing maintenance standards. They also oversee zoning, promote long-range planning and economic development, administer Community Development Block Grant projects, and provide staff support to the Appearance Commission, Consumer Affairs Commission, Plan Commission, and Zoning Board of Appeals.
