Health Supervision Visits
Public health nurses conduct home visits to the chronically ill and others in need of health assistance. Visits can be scheduled to teach diabetic patients to monitor their blood sugar or to administer injections. Hearing Screening - Adults
Monthly screening clinics for adult residents are available through the Skokie Health Department at no charge. A state-certified audiometric technician conducts the screening test and provides test results and follow-up recommendations. Appointments are required. Current clinic dates and times include:

Immunization Clinics
Free immunizations are provided to any child living in Skokie or attending a Skokie school. Certain vaccinations are available to adults also. Consultation on what immunizations are needed is provided by the nursing staff. An appointment is necessary. Institutional Investigations
Regular inspections of day care centers and nursing homes are conducted by the Skokie Health Department's Personal Health and Environmental Health Divisions to enforce Village and State regulations. Lead Screening
Children age 1 year to 6 years who live in Skokie or attend a Skokie school can receive a blood lead screening test from the Skokie Health Department. There is an $18 fee for this screening and appointments are required. The fee is waived for income eligible families. Call (847) 933-8252 for more information or to schedule an appointment. Lipid Profile Screening
The Skokie Health Department's lipid profile screening program measures your total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, and triglyceride levels. There is a $12 fee for the screening and appointments are required. Call (847) 933-8252 to make an appointment. Current clinic dates and times include:

Microwave Oven Testing

Nutrition Clinic A monthly nutrition clinic is offered to Skokie residents by the Skokie Health Department. You will receive a mini-physical which includes height, weight, blood pressure, hematocrit, cholesterol, and diabetes screening. A one-on-one counseling session with a registered dietitian is also included. This clinic is free of charge and appointments are necessary. Current clinic dates and times include:

Pneumonia Shot Clinics
Pneumonia shots are available to eligible Skokie residents throughout the year. There is no out-of-pocket expense. Medicare Part B is billed for reimbursement when possible. School Health Services
Parochial school children's health records are reviewed by the Skokie Health Department nurses. Consultation about immunizations, communicable disease, and lice control is offered routinely to local schools. The Skokie Health Department will conduct scoliosis screening clinics within the schools upon request. Solid Waste Investigations
Skokie Health Department sanitarians will respond to complaints of improperly stored refuse, improper storage of hazardous materials, and illegal dumping of materials. Violators will be issued warning notices and given citations if necessary to insure the problem is corrected. Call (847) 933-8484 to make a complaint.

The sanitarians of the Skokie Health Department conduct regular inspections of all public pools in Skokie. Inspection of and consultation regarding private pools is available upon request. "TOTS" Car Seat Program
Infant/toddler car safety seats are available from the Skokie Health Department for short-term loan to Skokie residents. This service can be especially useful to grandparents when their grandchildren come to visit. A $10 cash deposit is required for each seat borrowed. Water Supply Sampling
The Skokie Health Department collects approximately 70 water samples monthly at various locations throughout the village to assure water quality and safety. Residents can request sampling at their residence if they are concerned about the safety of their water supply. The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) has mandated that municipalities publish a Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) on water quality. The Village of Skokie purchases its water from the City of Evanston, and Evanston has provided the information contained in the Village of Skokie's CCR on water quality. Well Child Clinic
A monthly well child clinic is available for Skokie children from birth through age six. Eligibility for this program is based on family income. An appointment is required. Current clinic dates and times include:
