The Skokie Fire Department to Host an Open House and Gas Can Exchange

The Skokie Fire Department will host an Open House on Sunday, October 7 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Fire Station #17, 8157 Central Park Avenue. All Skokie residents and families are welcome.

The Fire Department Open House combines a variety of exciting and educational activities for the entire family. Highlights of the event include high-angle rope rescue and vehicle extrication demonstrations and an opportunity to meet “SPARKY”, the fire service mascot.

The Fire Department also encourages residents to bring old metal gas cans to the event to trade in for free new, environmentally friendly gas cans. By replacing these existing, older style cans with newer plastic gas containers, harmful vapor emissions can be reduced by 75%.

For more information on the Fire Department Open House and Gas Can Exchange, please contact the Skokie Fire Department at 847/982-5340.
