SkokieVision Skokie Broadcasts around-the-clock information to residents on the SkokieVision cable television station. SkokieVision programming can be found on Channel 17 (Comcast) and Channel 22 (RCN system). The Village was granted the use of these channels through the cable Franchise Agreements with RCN and Comcast. The Village continues to develop informational programming for broadcast on SkokieVision. Many of the Village's productions have won national awards. SkokiE-kiosks are now located at Village Hall, the Skokie Public Library, the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie, and Westfield Shoppingtown Old Orchard. An e-kiosk will also be placed at the Skokie Swift Station in the spring. The e-kiosks resemble an Automated Teller Machine (ATM), and contain a link to the Village’s website. Partnerships are limited to other government organizations, mass transit agencies, and non-profit institutions, such as Rush North Shore Hospital, NSCPAS, and the Skokie Public Library. All kiosks are free of commercial advertisements. The community e-kiosks incorporate touch pad technology. This means that users need only to touch the screen, and can then access a variety of information on Village government, facilities, and activities. In the future, the e-kiosks are expected to become more interactive, and will provide E-government services, such as the ability to apply for permits, and purchase vehicle stickers. These services will be phased in over time. |
