Low Vision Support Group

This group meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 1:30 p.m. Meetings are held at the Skokie Public Library, 5215 Oakton, Skokie. All interested are encouraged to attend. Guest speakers, research information and exhibits are arranged throughout the year. There is no charge or age minimum for this program.

Hearing Loss Support Group

This self-led group meets the third Tuesday of every month at 1:00 p.m. in the Community Room of Skokie Village Hall This  is an opportunity to build connections and learn from one another about resources and coping strategies. For further information, please call Human Services. 


Lending Closet

The Lending Closet offers Skokie residents the use of wheelchairs, walkers, canes and crutches. Standard folding wheelchairs are available for loan up to six months. Only one six-month wheelchair is permitted per household per year. Lightweight travel wheelchairs may be borrowed for 24 hours or through a weekend. 
A valid I.D. showing proof of residency is required for all loans. 

The Lending Closet is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 10am - 12pm or by appointment only. Please call Human Services for more information 847-933-8208. 

Reserved Residential Disability Parking

To qualify for this program, specific conditions must be met. For more information on disability services offered, please contact us at 847/933-8210. Applications are available for mailing or via pick-up in the Manager's Office.
