The Village of Skokie does not accept applications or resumes via fax.
Application for employment must be made via U.S. mail, email to human.resources@skokie.org, courier service or in person. Applications can be made for any positions at any time. If there are no current vacancies, applications will be maintained for six months. When a vacancy does occur applicants on file will be considered.

Police Officer Eligibility Lists

The current Police Officer Eligibility List was established on September 16, 2019 and will expire at 11:59 P.M. on September 15, 2021. Typically a written examination is administered every two years, or when the current Eligibility List has been exhausted.

Firefighter Eligibility Lists

The current Firefighter Eligibility List was established on April 16, 2018 and will expire at 11:59 P.M. on April 15, 2020. Typically a written examination is administered every two years, or when the current Eligibility List has been exhausted.

Police Officer & Firefighter Candidate Application Process and Requirements


Information on the application process for Police Officer and Firefighter candidates will be posted on the Village website when the respective application period next opens.  Information on the minimum requirements for Police Officer and Firefighter candidates can be found at Board of Fire and Police Commissioners.

The Skokie Fire Department has postponed the April 25, 2020 entry-level Firefighter written exam until further notice.  This decision was made in order to limit exposure to and spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), promoting the health and safety of the applicants, test administrators, and departmental staff attending the exam.  Given recommendations for social distancing by the CDC and the Illinois Department of Public Heath, IOS Recruitment and the Village of Skokie does not feel it is best to conduct the written exam at this time.

IOS Recruitment will notify all applicants once a new test date has been set.  Additional details about the examination will be provided at that time.  Please note that the new examination date will take into consideration the availability of CPAT facilities.
