Purpose and Duties
The Consumer Affairs Commission coordinates consumer activities within the Village, including educational forums and the Farmers' Market. The Commission is an advisory body that prepares reports for the Village Board and makes recommendations on ordinances, regulations and methods of enforcement related to consumer affairs. All recommendations are presented to the Mayor and the Board of Trustees. The Commission sponsors the Business of the Year and the popular Farmers' Market. Each Commissioner serves a two-year term.

Skokie Business of the Year
In 2019 the Consumer Affairs Commission selected the Skokie Theatre, located at 7924 Lincoln Avenue, as
Skokie Business of the Year. Runners up included: Poochie’s Restaurant, 3602 Dempster Street; Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Boulevard; and Crafty Beaver Home Center, 4810 Oakton Street.
