I am excited to hear that Highpoint at 8000 North has begun its leasing process. I believe it will be a great addition for downtown Skokie and help surrounding businesses rebound from the pandemic. It is a beautiful building that is well thought out in its design and amenities. We have had the pleasure of serving a few of the new tenants and we are as excited as they are to have them in the community. We are looking forward to many years of partnering with Highpoint and serving its tenants.

We know that the Highpoint’s residents will add to that great mix, bringing  more vibrancy and more people to the area, and more business to our Skokie taproom. Our spacious taproom and beer garden - located just east of Niles Center and Main St. - is within easy walking distance from 8000 North, and we know many of them will become regulars. In fact, we plan on offering a Welcome gift to all the new Highpoint residents!

From James Iverson, owner of F & I Marketing and former owner of Mini Man Monkey Brains Candy: The other day, one of my son’s friends looked around with a little surprise and commented “Skokie is really happening.”  I’ve always loved downtown Skokie, but it is fun seeing so many new developments, and we have enjoyed watching Highpoint at 8000 North go up.  It is a beautiful centerpiece for our downtown with all its vibrant changes.

The 8000 North project is in fact moving forward.  The exterior completion of the parking garage for the 8000 North project was completed in late April.  The interior work which consists of the mechanical, electric, and plumbing for the garage is anticipated to continue through the end of September.  The developers of the project did experience a delay in the construction of the residential building due to supply chain issues and the economic impacts due to COVID-19.  Interest in this landmark luxury mixed-use rental residential building is very strong as over 200 potential residents have expressed interest in the 153 unit property.

April 8, 2020
The current national uncertainty over COVID-19 is making it necessary to extend the timeline for constructing the 8000 North development at Oakton Street at Lincoln Avenue in Skokie. The Village has been informed by the developer that while construction work on the garage portion of the building will continue through September 2020, the construction timeline for the remainder of the project will be extended. Due to the timeline extension, it is necessary to remove the large crane that has been in place on the site.

The 8000 North development team remains committed to this project that will bring 153 luxury residential rental units and new retail space to Downtown Skokie, both of which will be important components of the community’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Project updates will be posted at www.8000north.com. The 8000 North team looks forward to the better days that are ahead and wishes the Skokie community all of the best during this uncertain time.
