National Consumer Protection Week is March 1 through 7, 2020. The Village’s Consumer Affairs Commission encourages all Skokie residents to shop locally and to be smart consumers. The Consumer Affairs Commission meets monthly and coordinates consumer activities within the Village, including educational forums and the Farmers’ Market. The Commission is an advisory body that prepares reports for the Village Board and makes recommendations on ordinances, regulations and methods of enforcement related to consumer affairs. They also coordinate the annual Business of the Year awards, which in 2019, were received by the Skokie Theatre, Poochie’s Restaurant, Chicago Jewish Funerals and Crafty Beaver Home Center.
