The Village of Skokie is looking for the next Assistant Farmers’ Market Manager (AMM). Primary duties of the AMM will be to coordinate the Farmers’ Market SNAP program to assist low-income individuals purchase fresh produce at the market. Other duties will be to create the weekly Skokie Farmers’ Market email newsletter, assist with Farmers’ Market Social Media, organize/coordinate entertainment and activities at the Market and assist the Market Manager in a variety of ways including setting up the market each week.
The AMM will be an enthusiastic advocate of local and sustainable agriculture. The AMM must have a positive and energetic attitude and be reliable, friendly, self-motivated and possess excellent communication, customer service and conflict resolution skills. The position requires the ability to work independently as well as inter-dependently with others involved in the farmer’s market.
Must be in good physical condition and able to work in all outdoor weather conditions. Must have great customer service and people skills. Must have good computer skills. Ideal candidate will be an independent thinker and have the ability to promote the Skokie Farmers’ Market on a number of platforms.
