[ARCHIVED] Many Skokie Businesses are now Open!

We're Open SKOKIE (JPG)

Numerous Skokie restaurants are offering outdoor dining, retail stores are open, salons have resumed offering personal care services and more. These re-openings are an exciting and much-anticipated first step in restoring the local economy, and local businesses are eager to serve the community in an increased capacity. See list of open businesses that is updated daily.

The State of Illinois has issued guidance and requirements specific to numerous business categories that are necessary to protect everyone’s health and safety. Village staff is working closely with the business community to help them navigate these new, and sometimes very detailed, requirements given on relatively short notice. The guidelines and requirements focus on safeguards to protect both customers and employees, and Skokie businesses are working hard to comply so that residents can be assured of their safety. See guidelines for restaurants, retail stores, personal care salons and more.

As such, the community is encouraged to please be patient with local businesses when they re-open and adjust to their new operational requirements. Customers are asked to respect the need for continued physical distancing, cloth face-covering requirements and other safety procedures that will be new for everyone. Should shoppers, diners or clients encounter difficulties or have questions/concerns about implementation, they are encouraged to speak to the business management directly, either during their visit or by contacting them afterward. Should these options not be available or prove unsatisfactory, residents are invited to email the Village at info@skokie.org to share their concerns or request additional information. As businesses – and patrons – adjust to these new requirements, patience and understanding will be needed as we all go through this transition that is so important to the entire community.

Now more than ever, it is important to shop and dine locally - stay safe and shop Skokie!
