Village of Skokie September 11 Remembrance Ceremonies
*Update* September 11, 2020, 7:45 a.m. - although rain is expected, the ceremonies will proceed as planned unless weather conditions become severe with lightening present. In this case, the ceremonies will be briefly postponed, or if necessary, canceled. The current plan is to proceed with the ceremonies. Updates will be posted if necessary.
On Friday, September 11, 2020, the Skokie Fire Department will dedicate a moment of silence with a bell ceremony beginning at 8:57 a.m. at the flagpole of each of its fire stations in remembrance of the attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001. Skokie police officers also will attend the ceremonies.
At 8:59 a.m., a “last alarm” bell ceremony will take place followed by a minute of silence at 9 a.m. Station locations include:
- Fire Station 16 (Headquarters) - 7424 Niles Center Road
- Fire Station 17 - 8157 Central Park Avenue
- Fire Station 18 - 9024 Gross Point Road
The public is invited to attend but all attendees are required to wear a face covering and to observe appropriate social distancing for everyone’s safety.
