Learn more about the CS2 Program at the program’s customer portal www.northshorecommunitysolar.net or by calling MC-Squared Energy services at (888) 808-7731.

Skokie residents are now able to access Community Solar subscriptions through the CS2 Residential and Small Commercial Program starting in October.  The CSProgram is a partnership between Skokie and seven other communities that formed an electric supply purchasing cooperative several years ago and the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus to provide residential and small commercial consumers easy and immediate access to new community solar farms under development in northern Illinois.

Community Solar allows consumers to claim a portion of the electricity generated by a centralized community solar farm with a subscription. Subscribers receive “net metering credits” from ComEd on to their monthly utility bill for their portion of the energy generated by the community solar farm. The CS2 Program is designed to help residents access this new approach to solar and help accelerate Illinois’ transition towards renewables.

During early November, residential and small commercial electricity consumers in Skokie received a post card invitation to join the CS2 Program. The invitation advises residents on how they can receive details about Community Solar and the CS2 Program offer, and, if interested, place themselves on a reservation list.  As community solar projects are completed in coming months, residents on the reservation list will be contacted and offered an opportunity to complete the subscription process.  Residents will not receive a telephone call from their community, the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus or from the CS2 Program Billing Administrator MC-Squared Energy Services .

Once subscribed to a community solar farm through the CS2 Program, residents will receive bill credits from ComEd for their portion of the community solar farm’s monthly generation (a process termed “net metering”).  After paying their monthly subscription fees, residents will realize a 20% discount from their annual ComEd energy supply charges.

The CSProgram is the largest municipally sponsored Community Solar program in Illinois and is available residential and small commercial electric service accounts in Skokie that are receiving default rate service from ComEd.  To protect consumers, the CS2 Program does not require a credit check and will not charge any enrollment or termination fees.
