A new stay-at-home advisory from the Cook County Department of Public Health urging suburban Cook County residents to refrain from non-essential activities and stay home for at least 30 days to stop the increasing spread of COVID-19 goes into effect at 6 a.m. on Monday, November 16, 2020. 

Cases of COVID-19 in Skokie, as well as the rest of Cook County, are surging. In the past week, The Skokie Health Department tracks the seven-day rolling average of COVID-19 cases in the community. Over the past six weeks, and there has been a significant increase in the average daily number of Skokie residents diagnosed with COVID-19:

November 12, 2020 - average 49 cases per day of Skokie residents diagnosed with COVID-19 

October 31, 2020 - average 22 cases per day of Skokie residents diagnosed with COVID-19 

October 1, 2020 - average 7 cases per day of Skokie residents diagnosed with COVID-19

In spring, 2020, the highest daily average of Skokie residents diagnosed with COVID-19 was a total of 16 cases on a seven-day rolling average. In the past week, Skokie's daily COVID-19 case counts have been the highest since the pandemic began in March 2020: 82 cases on November 7 and 77 cases on November 12.

Skokie residents are urged to take all measures possible to protect their health and the health of their family by practicing the 3 W's - wear a mask, watch your distance and wash your hands, and to consider staying home as much as possible.
