May is National Bike Month and on Sunday, May 23, 2021 from 2 to 4 p.m., the Skokie Police Department will partner with the Skokie Park District to offer a bicycle safety event at Oakton Community Center, 4701 Oakton Street. The Skokie Police Department will be running bike safety courses so come out and test your skills or just get a refresher on the rules of the road. Bring your bike and your helmet! Local bicycle shops will be on hand to give your bicycle a free inspection for the start of the riding season. The afternoon's activities also will include the Skokie Park District Flea Market Frenzy in the middle part of the parking lot. When you are done perusing the market, jump on the Skokie Valley Trail and put those new bicycle skills to use! Registration is FREE but the Skokie Park Districts requests that everyone preregisters so that they can be sure to have enough giveaways and prizes, we are asking for everyone to pre-register so we know how many kids/families we have for giveaways and prizes.
