[ARCHIVED] Skokie Eases Mask Order for Fully Vaccinated Individuals

Family image (JPG)

The Village of Skokie will follow the new guidance for fully vaccinated individuals issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that was affirmed in Governor JB Prizker’s Bridge Phase Executive Order on May 17, 2021. The Governor’s order communicates that fully vaccinated individuals no longer are required to wear face masks or adhere to social distancing when in a public place, although businesses have the authority to undertake stricter or additional measures when deemed necessary by that business. Masks are still required for fully vaccinated individuals at schools and while on public transit, in congregate facilities and in healthcare settings. Fully vaccinated individuals are defined as being at least two weeks past their second dose of either Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, or two weeks past the required single dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine.  See CDC guidance for fully vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.

If you are not fully vaccinated and are over the age of two and able to medically tolerate a face covering, you are required to cover your nose and mouth with a face-covering in a public place and unable to maintain a six-foot social distance. This requirement applies whether in an indoor space, such as a store or in a public outdoor space where maintaining a six-foot distance is not always possible. Skokie residents age 12 and older, and employees at Skokie businesses are invited to sign up to receive a free COVID-19 vaccination from the Village of Skokie. Information on Village clinics will be posted when scheduled, with the next first-dose clinics expected to occur during the week of May 31. See more information.

Businesses are required to ensure that employees who are not fully vaccinated practice social distancing and wear masks, maintain six-foot social distancing between tables at restaurants, etc. See more information on the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity’s Restore Illinois Phase 4 Business Requirements and the Restore Illinois Bridge Phase Business Requirements.
