The Skokie Police Department (SPD) will resume its quarterly beat meetings during 2023, with the first meetings held in January. All meetings begin at 6 p.m. Attendees can expect to gain insight into the use of the new Police-to-Citizen Portal, how to register for and use Smart 911 (the program that replaced CodeRED) as well as a discussion about neighborhood and Village-wide crime trends and crime prevention methods.
In 2021, the Skokie Police Department’s (SPD) Neighborhood Watch program transitioned from yearly Block Captain meetings to quarterly “Beat” meetings in public locations within each of the Village’s nine geographic beats (see map). Both permanent beat officers for each area, as well as Crime Prevention officers, will attend the meetings to provide a regular opportunity for residents and stakeholders of the Beats to interact with members of SPD who patrol their neighborhoods, exchange information, identify reoccurring problems and jointly develop solutions to those problems.
