Ramadan began on Friday, April 1 and will end on the evening of May 1, 2022. Ramadan is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection and community. Muslims break their daily fasts by sharing meals with family and friends, and the end of Ramadan is celebrated with a three-day festival known as Eid al-Fitr, one of Islam’s major holidays. Islam is the world’s second largest religion after Christianity and has more than 1 billion followers.
