Beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 30, and continuing through 5 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, a contractor for the Illinois Department of Transportation will continue construction work on the Dempster Street triangle project. Pavement removal will take place on Dempster Street from Bronx to Kilpatrick Avenues. Dempster Street will remain open but traffic delays are expected.
The contractor is aware of the residential neighborhoods surrounding the project area and has agreed to mitigate construction noise to the greatest extent possible.
This overnight work allows acceleration of the overall project completion which is expected by Monday, October 31, 2022. In addition, the overnight work significantly minimizes disruption to heavier daytime traffic volumes and is safer for the motoring public, construction crews and pedestrians.
