Storytellers wanted!
Love Lost and Found is the theme of the Skokie Fine Arts Commission’s live, inaugural storytelling event scheduled for Thursday, February 16, 2023. The event runs from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at Take Flight Spirits, 8038 Lincoln Avenue, Skokie and will feature up to 10 storytellers who will step up to the microphone to tell their five- to-seven-minute, true story about love. Headlining the event will be will Skokie resident, author, writing coach, storyteller and previous Award for Artistic Excellence recipient Ellen Blum Barish.
Potential storytellers are invited to submit an up to 750-word story about love gone wrong, true love, the food they grew to love, what they love about Skokie…or another appropriate love-related tale. Deadline for submittal is January 6, 2023, and stories should be emailed to info@skokie.org in a pdf file with the storyteller’s name, address and phone number. Preference will be given to Skokie residents, and stories are encouraged from Skokie’s multi-cultural community.
Submissions will be reviewed by the Skokie Fine Arts Commission with confirmations to storytellers by late January 2023. All storytellers will receive a fun Skokie swag bag, and we hope to hear from you!
Want to attend the storytelling event? Admission is free, but reservations will be required as space is limited. Reservations will be accepted beginning February 1, 2023, with more information added to this post and included in edition of SkokieNews.
