Recycle Holiday Lights and Christmas Trees!
Holiday Light Recycling
Skokie Public Works will again participate in the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County’s popular holiday light recycling program held in partnership with Elgin Recycling. Through January 31, 2023, strands of holiday lights may be dropped off in the container located outside the Skokie Public Works main entrance at 9050 Gross Point Road.
Drop-offs are accepted Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Accepted lights include: mini-lights, C7 and C9 lights, rope lights, LED lights and extension cords.

Christmas Tree Recycling
Public Works crews is scheduled to start picking up live Christmas trees during the week of January 3, 2023, and will pick up again during the week of January 9. This is done weather permitting and is not on a precise schedule.
Place trees wherever your refuse carts are collected, and please remove lights and ornaments and do NOT place in bags as the trees are chipped into mulch.
