Join the Skokie Beautification and Improvement Commission for an informative session with Monica Buckley, president and owner of Red Stem Native Landscapes. Learn more about the vital role native plants play in our ecosystem and walk away with tips for beginners on how to get started in your home garden. Earth Day Celebration

Emily Oaks Nature Center

Celebrate Earth Day by participating in engaging activities along the Nature Center trails and experiencing first-hand the unique vision and perspectives of other animals with which we share the planet. Native plants and earth-friendly foods will be available for sale. FREE for all ages. Visit the Skokie Park District website for more information.

Arbor Day Tree Planting Ceremony
Friday, April 28 at 10 a.m.
Elizabeth Meyer School

The entire community is invited to the annual Arbor Day tree planting ceremony. Trees benefit the community by providing shade and shelter, reducing yearly heating and cooling costs by 2.1 billion dollars. They also stabilize the soil, prevent erosion and absorb rain water to reduce flooding and supply the oxygen in the air we breathe.
