Congratulations to the 23 Skokie property owners nominated by the Beautification and Improvement Commission in recognition of their efforts to beautify their properties.
Each year, the commission showcases exceptional properties in hopes of encouraging a greater number of residents and businesses to landscape and beautify their properties. Nominees will be recognized at the October 16 meeting of the Village Board.
New this year: The top five property owners were awarded a “Skokie Best” award for their exemplary contribution to the aesthetics of the Skokie community and to the environment with an emphasis on natural landscaping and native plants. In addition, six properties were recognized as “pollinator pantries,” a new category of the beautification awards program with an eye toward plantings that provide food for butterflies and bees without the use of dangerous pesticides.
