Village of Skokie Backlot Bash 2019

The Village of Skokie, together with the Skokie Park District and other community partners,  will co-present Skokie's Backlot Bash on Friday, August 23 from 6 to 10 p.m.; Saturday, August 24 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, August 25, from noon to 8 p.m. The Backlot Bash features activities for all ages to enjoy, including live music, carnival rides, classic auto show, business expo, 5k run on Saturday, bingo, pancake breakfast on Sunday from 8 to 11 a.m., the Skokie Farmers’ Market on Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.(in the west parking lot of the Skokie Public Library), an outdoor sidewalk sale and a rummage sale at the Skokie Theatre. Food and beverage vendors will be available throughout the event, including a separate beer tent. Family-friendly events and games will be held at the Skokie Public Library throughout the weekend.

Mainstage Musical Features:

  • Friday, August 23, 8:30 p.m. -  Smithereens with Marshall Crenshaw
  • Saturday, August 24, 8:30 p.m. – War
  • Sunday, August 25, 6:30 p.m. – Tributosaurus becomes the Rolling Stones

Traffic: The Backlot Bash will be held in a closed-off, two-block portion of Oakton Street, between Lincoln and Lockwood Avenues adjacent to Skokie Village Hall, 5127 Oakton Street. Oakton Street will be closed from Thursday, August 22 at 2 p.m. through Monday, August 26 at 2 a.m. Available Handicapped Parking: 5200 Oakton Street. Enter through the alley from either Lockwood or Laramie Avenues, north of Oakton Street. Handicapped parking is also located in all general parking lots. General Parking: Public parking is available in select lots in Downtown Skokie, including the Mulford Avenue parking lot at Oakton Community College, 7701 Lincoln Avenue; see www.skokie.org for details. See Skokie Park District directions and additional parking information. See a map showing the days and times of street and parking lot closures in the Backlot Bash area.

 Bicycle Parking: Available at the Skokie Public Library, the south side of Village Hall and various locations throughout Downtown Skokie.

Village Hall office hours remain the same on Friday, August 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., but parking will be limited to the south side of the building accessible from Galitz Street.
