Skokie Spirit Profiles - Nominate Someone Today!
The Village’s Skokie Spirit Shines Through campaign is transitioning to a series of stories and profiles about Skokie residents or business representatives that will appear in upcoming editions of NewSkokie and SkokieNews, and posted in the Skokie Spirit Shines Through section of the Village web site.
Who in your neighborhood is ‘a neighbor to know’? How do they contribute to a stronger sense of community, to helping others, particularly during this challenging time? How will their story inspire others in the community? Please consider nominating someone you know in the community who you think has a unique, inspiring story and who would want to be highlighted as an example for others.
If your neighbor agrees to be featured, we will contact them for an interview. Their profile story will include some of the basics - name, how long they’ve lived in Skokie, etc., with details on how they contribute to a positive community spirit, maybe a word or two on their favorite Skokie store or restaurant and more.
See Skokie Spirit Shines Through story nomination form.

Hope - and Skokie’s strong community spirit - are stronger than fear! Please share your hope and community spirit by sending a poster, picture, or brief info on how you and your neighbors are staying connected to email@example.com for publishing consideration on the new Skokie Spirit Shines Through! webpage and in the next edition of NewSkokie. Thank you!
The Skokie Community Foundation has launched a new Skokie Spirit Shines Through fundraising campaign! See details on how you can support the campaign. Funds raised through this effort are given to the Village’s Office of Human Services for distribution to assist our Skokie neighbors in need during this difficult time. The Village is grateful to the Skokie Community Foundation for their partnership in this effort that has raised more than $50,000 through early July, 2020.
Please be a good neighbor during these difficult times. Governor Pritzker has stated, "All of us have a part to play. Be a helper." A wonderful way to feel better is to help someone else feel better, or safer or calmer. Look for ways to help others, exchange phone numbers with your neighbors, and agree to check in with each other, help each other with shopping or food delivery. Consider safe ways to help through your neighborhood connections like Facebook and Nextdoor. Technology and our fast society have isolated us from our neighbors, but technology also offers safe ways to stay connected. Now is the time to support each other in safe and healthy ways.

The Village of Skokie is pleased to support an effort by the Skokie Public Library and Niles Township Government to enlist volunteer sewists to make for Niles Township Food Pantry clients. Following is information from the Niles Township webpage:
“Sewists” are invited to make and donate masks for our Niles Township Food Pantry clients.
The Niles Township Food Pantry serves more than 6,000 residents, and the number is growing in this time of critical need. In partnership with the Skokie Public Library, the Township is highlighting this important way to help some of our most vulnerable community members who are also the least likely to be able to obtain their own masks.
To Sign up, access the following link:
Access these links for more information on making masks.
Please mail masks to 5255 Lincoln Ave, Skokie, IL 60077, or drop off the masks at the south side of the Niles Township Government building in the metal donation bins.
For more information on making and donating masks, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
