  1. HeartSaver CPR/AED Community Class

    October 19, 2019, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM @ Skokie Fire Station #17

    The class is American Heart Association's Heart Saver CPR course. It is geared to the citizen, NOT the Health Care provider. The class covers CPR, A.E.D. (automated external defibrillator), and foreign airway obstruction (choking) for adults, children, and infants. Please dress comfortably. CPR classes are held the 3rd Saturday of each month (except December) from 9:00am to 1:00pm. Class size: Minimum 4 students, Maximum 15 students Registration closes the Thursday before the class. Walk-ins not accepted. If the minimum isn't met, you will be notified via the email you registered with and the option to reschedule for another class. You will need to have an email address or access to an email account when registering. After successfully completing the course you will receive a certification card good for two (2) years from the AHA.

    Wednesday, October 23 - How to Avoid Scams and Fraud This event takes place on October 23 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Public Library/Radmacher Room and is cosponsored by the Village of Skokie Con- sumer Affairs Commission. Come out and listen to Officer Eric Swaback of the Skokie Police Department present on how to avoid being the victim of fraud and the common misconceptions of securing one’s information on- line.     Thursday, October 24 - Hacking, Identity Theft, and Ransomware, oh my! This event is sponsored by the Village of Skokie Telecommunications and Technology (STAT) Commission and will be held on October 24, 7 p.m., at Skokie Police Headquarters, 7300 Niles Center Road. Those who attend will hear from an experienced information security professional and Skokie Police officers. Materials covered will include an intro to modern information security and digital privacy, how to protect yourself online and provide instructions for how and when to contact police if you believe you’ve been a victim of cyber crime.
